AWARD
Annually the Josephburg Agricultural Society awards three $1500.00 scholarships based equally on academic achievement and community involvement. One of the $1500 scholarships will be awarded to a student enrolled in a program leading to a career in agriculture. Another $1500.00 scholarship in memory of our longstanding Director and JAS volunteer, Doug Maschmeyer, will be awarded. In all, four $1500.00 scholarships will be awarded. No individual student will be awarded more than one scholarship in any year.
ELIGIBILITY
The scholarships will be available to any post-secondary student commencing or currently enrolled in any year of an accredited program, degree, or diploma. There is no age limit. Applicants are allowed no more than three successful applications.
ESSAY AND VIDEO
Candidates must submit a 500 word essay explaining what volunteerism means to them and how they have incorporated the spirit of volunteerism into their own lives. For applicants to be considered for the Doug Maschmeyer Scholarship, their essay must also explain what mentorship means to them. Candidates must also submit a video of not more than 90 seconds in length. The video should portray the candidate’s community involvement, academic achievements, and career goals. The videos submitted by students who are awarded scholarships may be viewed at a Josephburg Presents Dinner Concert so community members have opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate the students.
