One of the most successful multi-species youth events in Alberta is hosted right in Josephburg. Strathcona Country Classic welcomes more than 100 young people and their families from the surrounding area and across the province the last weekend in May every year.

The event continues to grow with more participants and opportunities for them to learn and compete. There is something for everyone with competitions for beef cattle and gymkhana.

The Country Classic was founded and developed in 1999 by a dedicated group of locals in order to promote youth in agriculture and encourage them to stay involved in the industry. It’s also an excellent opportunity for people living in urban areas to experience the country and get an up-close look at animals and agriculture.
