TRAIL CHALLENGE RULES
Riders may walk the courses immediately prior to the start of each age division.
The rider will navigate the horse through a series of obstacles each of which will have a predetermined score value, based on the degree of difficulty, which will be awarded to the contestant only if the obstacle is completed without any penalties.
Knocking down or dislodging any component of the obstacle will constitute a penalty.
Failure to complete the obstacle as described during the walk-through will constitute a penalty.
The rider must complete as many obstacles as possible within the 3-minute time limit.
Riders may complete the course in any order, but may only complete each obstacle once. There is no time limit for individual obstacles, if you skip it you can come back to it later if you have time.
There will be a warning sounded when the rider has 30 seconds remaining. When final time is called, the rider cannot start a new obstacle, but must immediately cross the finish line. If a rider has already started an obstacle when final time is called, they may finish that obstacle before crossing the finish line.
Point ties will be broken based on fastest times.
Lead-line riders may participate in the Novice Walk / Trot class but will not be eligible for placings. (A small “participation prize” will be awarded).
